Roger Köppel, Editor-in-Chief Weltwoche, SVP National Councillor

Roger Köppel was born in Zurich in 1965 and studied history, economics and political philosophy. After completing his studies, he first became an editor for the Swiss newspaper “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”, then cultural editor for “Tages-Anzeiger”. In 1997 he became deputy editor-in-chief of Tages-Anzeiger and editor-in-chief of Das Magazin.

In 2001, Roger Köppel took up the post of editor-in-chief for “Die Weltwoche”. After two years as editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper “DIE WELT” in Berlin, in 2006 he returned to “Die Weltwoche” as publisher and editor-in-chief. In 2015, he became a member of the Swiss People's Party (SVP) and was elected as a member of the Swiss National Council the same year, securing the best result of all time in terms of votes for a parliamentary election at this level. He was re-elected to the National Council in 2021.
