Diagnosis

Various imaging methods are now available to clarify an anomaly more precisely. If a nodule is palpated, a distortion is noted or pain is felt, a mammogram and/or a breast ultrasound scan should be performed. In some cases, an MRI scan may be useful. Breast screening mammography allows the early diagnosis of anomalies, leading to faster provision of care with a more favourable prognosis.

1. Preoperative appointment

The management protocol consists of two preoperative appointments.

The first preoperative consultation lasts half an hour and is performed by an optometrist. The latter carries out a series of examinations and a comprehensive sight test. He/she is also able to answer all your questions.

The second preoperative consultation lasts about 1 hour and is carried out by your ophthalmic surgeon. At this point, you will receive all the necessary information for your operation, including postoperative instructions. We will have to dilate your pupils with eye drops, which will induce blurred vision for several hours. Therefore, it is essential to come accompanied as driving will not be possible.

Note: These examinations and the surgical procedure will require you to remove your lenses beforehand. The withdrawal times before each appointment and before the operations are as follows:

  • 1 week for soft lenses and
  • 3 weeks for hard lenses
